Is it normal that my sty has not healed for a year?

From personal experience, I can say that getting a sty every now and then is normal and no reason to panic. It usually heals on its own in a few weeks.

However, I had a sty last winter that wouldn't go away for 12 months. A chalazion developed. Then summer came and the stye was able to "melt" with natural heat and be secreted by the glands in the eyelid, as it normally does. I had previously tried home remedies and heat compresses as well as a red light lamp to get rid of the sty, but nothing helped. However, it finally went away on its own after a year. So, don't give up hope and don't immediately think about surgery. Ask your doctor for advice if the sty hurts, he can also prescribe an ointment. The swelling and the sty will go away after a while - how much time this sometimes takes can be underestimated!
